Mostly, I view this holiday as a wonderful chance to celebrate one of man's best creations and gifts from God... chocolate.
When I scooped up that large white vase that reads "Chocolate Hot & Delicious" at Goodwill for $5.99 I instantly imagined it filled with large pink peonies for a Valentine's Day arrangement. I love the way it turned out. I actually used artificial blush pink garden roses and a brighter pink ranunculus. This vase set the tone for my Valentine's Day vignette.
I was going for a French chocolaterie kind of vibe and I love the way this marble dresser top adds to that effect.
Originally, I thought it would be great to have a monstrous tower of french macarons so I kind of wanted to DIY some out of air dry clay. However, I didn't have it in me to even try this year. Good thing you can always grab some delicious macarons from the grocery. Can you believe I got these tasty French cookies at Walmart?
My all time favorite Valentine's treat is chocolate covered strawberries. And I thought and thought about how I could DIY some for decorative purposes. But I wasn't finding the materials that I needed. So I opted to use these plain artificial strawberries that I bought for my daughter's teddy bear picnic birthday party and actually really like the way they looked on this chocolatey table. I added in some little white flowers that I had on hand and adore this look. It's actually kind of nice having something a little fresher looking amidst all of this chocolate.
I used a red toned book as a riser to give this strawberry stand a little more height. Its a book called Grand Opera by Eric A. Plaut. I love it because a night at the opera would be such a romantic date.
I was really wanting a glass apothecary jar for this vignette when it hit me that I already have the perfect glass display for these adorable felt love notes. My glass Teabloom teapot looks so charming here and I just love that I was able to turn this into a versatile piece.
The best pieces of decor are edible, don't you agree? I love how chic these Ferrero Rochers looked neatly placed on this little cart that I picked up at the Target dollar spot.
I am wild about using tea cups and mugs as little chocolate dishes. It gives me hot chocolate vibes and is really just the perfect way to make your dishes even more versatile.
How cute is this vintage Lady and the Tramp record cover? I just love those little hearts and this classic movie about l'amour.
Here is a free download of the wall art that I placed in our floating glass frame above the record cart. I love how charmingly chic and vibrant this piece is. The formal garden look pairs wonderfully with my Parisian theme as it reminds me of the palace of Versailles.
I love decorating the mantle on our antique brown marble top hutch. For Valentine's Day, I used an artificial floral garland that I made as a center piece at our wedding. I just love that I was able to use this memory piece for this love filled holiday.
I believe I have found the most cleaver and cutest use for seasonal picks. A few years ago my daughter just loved this heart pick at Michaels and really wanted to get it. I knew I would find a way to use it in our decor and how cute is this piece sticking out of our teapot?
On our book and game cart I displayed a few lovey dovey children's books that we checked out out at our local library.
My husband gave me The Princess Bride: Adventure Book Game for Christmas this past year. I thought it looked so cute propped up here for Valentine's Day as it's one of the greatest movies ever about true love.
Although this might not be the most Valentinesy book display, I love it! The pink color is just right and it gives me something to look forward to as I dream of visiting the New England coast with my hubby some day when kids leave the nest.
