How to Send a Flower Via Snail Mail

​Sending things via snail mail is one of the most fun ways to communicate with family and friends. I love the joy that a good old fashioned letter can bring to others. And I love teaching my kids to make this a part of their lives, too.

My mother in law is a twelve hour drive from us so I especially like to send the occasional funsy in the mail, little things that help her experience her grandkids’ childhoods even though we’re far apart.

​Has your child ever given you a flower? Isn’t it the most precious feeling. I like to encourage them to give those same kinds of gifts to their grandma, even though she doesn't live right down the street.

​So why not mail one!? It’s very easy and my mother in law was just thrilled to find these in her mailbox. Whether you are mailing to Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Rosie or your pen pal they are sure to love it!

​You will need:

• Card stock paper
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Flowers or nature finds
• Tape
• Crayons
• 5x7 envelope
• Glue stick

​Do you need a flower press in order to mail a flower?

​You do not have to press flowers in order to mail them. They will become sort of pressed in the envelope any who.

However, I like the idea of them being left full. I wanted it to look as much like it had just been picked as possible.

Step 1

Cut a 5x7 rectangle out of cardstock paper or grab a blank note card.

​Step 2

Write a fun message or let your little ones scribble on the paper.

Step 3

Tape down the flowers to the paper.

Mail it to family, friends, and pen pals!
