Step 1 I painted a base coat of white enamel paint on every side of the bricks. This made the surface a little smoother and primed it for more detailed painting. Step 2 I left the bottom side white enamel and painted every other side the color that I had chose for the houses. Step 3 Next, I drew on the houses with the doors, windows, and other details. Step 4 I painted on the details of the houses and the skies. My fine tip paintbrush was so handy for this part. Step 5 Lastly, I gave each bookend a good couple of coats with my favorite clear enamel spray paint to protect the craft paint.
